Tennessee residents who are accused of crimes can come from all walks of life. When drugs are involved, criminal charges may well involve those persons allowed to issue or fill and dispense prescription medications as well as others who may try to resell drugs. This is precisely what is happening in Tennessee today as a physician has been accused of multiple crimes involving prescription narcotics.
The doctor, who holds licenses to practice medicine in both Tennessee as well as neighboring Kentucky was arrested and placed in a jail in Sumner County. His bond was set at $500,000. The charges against him include five separate counts of writing prescriptions that are said to have been not issued for legitimate medical purposes. Reports indicate that the prescriptions were issued to multiple people although exactly how many is not known.
Complaints are said to have been lodged that initiated a multi-agency investigation involving police in Gallatin, a drug task force in the eighteenth judicial district and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations. The doctor is accused of receiving sex and money in exchange for giving people prescriptions to obtain narcotic drugs. In addition to facing criminal charges, the man’s license to issue prescriptions from the Drug Enforcement Administration has been revoked.
