A married couple who allegedly cultivated a pot farm in Tennessee were indicted on federal drug manufacturing and drug trafficking charges in mid-May. The 58-year-old man and the 56-year-old woman had been previously featured on the TV show ‘Weed County,’ which aired back in 2013.
Authorities said that they received a tip that marijuana was being grown at a residence located on Watson Road in Madison County. When they were given permission to enter the residence, the authorities reportedly found an indoor grow operation for marijuana inside. They also searched a tour bus that was located outside after receiving a search warrant. Ultimately, authorities seized about 20 pounds of marijuana, hash oil, firearms and $7,000 in cash. The tour bus and another vehicle were also seized.
The two individuals were ultimately charged with knowingly and intentionally manufacturing marijuana, attempting to manufacture marijuana, possessing with attempt to distribute and attempting to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and marijuana concentrates. A third person, a 43-year-old man, was also charged with the crimes in addition to one count of possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
All drug crimes, including simple possession charges all the way up to drug trafficking charges, can have severe consequences if they lead to conviction. Felony charges in particular can result in mandatory federal prison sentences.
